Storm causes damages, injuries during fireworks show

The Severe thunderstorm that blew through the area last night produced a Magnificent natural light show. But it also came with strong wind gusts of over 60 mph.

Strong winds and storm conditions at a large crowd of people at night is a recipe for disaster.

Last night at the popular fireworks show on the water at Pickwick, the storm destroyed multiple boats. Tree limbs fell on show watchers who didn’t or couldn’t get to safety in the crowd.

The strong winds made controlling boats nearly impossible.

Multiple eye witnesses reported injuries, canopies being torn off of boats and more.

We will update the status of injuries as more information is known.
