Tippah County roundup, Oct. 6, 2026: Gulf system may bring rain; Ripley food pantry set Friday

Tippah County could receive rain this weekend from a developing Gulf system, but dry weather and elevated fire danger are expected to persist through Friday, Oct. 9, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis. Local coverage also announces Friday’s mobile food pantry in Ripley and weekly volleyball honors for two Blue Mountain Christian University players.

Rain chances depend on developing Gulf system

Tippah News reports that Tuesday morning’s National Hurricane Center outlook gave the southwestern Gulf disturbance a 90 percent chance of development within 48 hours. Forecasters said its eventual track will determine how much rain reaches north Mississippi.

The weather service’s Tuesday forecast for Ripley calls for highs near 89 degrees Thursday and 88 Friday, with patchy fog possible Wednesday morning. Rain chances were 30 percent Saturday, Oct. 10, and 40 percent Saturday night and Sunday. Residents should continue observing the Tippah County burn ban and check later forecasts as the system develops. Read the weather and fire-danger report.
