Trump approves disaster declaration for storms caused by Tropical Storm Arthur

President Donald Trump has approved a major disaster declaration for several Mississippi counties affected by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flash flooding from June 18 to 20, 2026, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The storms caused damage to 532 homes, 17 businesses, and five farms, FEMA said. Governor Tate Reeves thanked the president for the support, saying the declaration will bolster recovery efforts and provide additional aid to residents.

Individual Assistance has been approved for Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, and Stone counties. This aid may include grants for temporary housing, home repairs, low-interest loans, and other recovery programs. Public Assistance is authorized for Covington, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, Stone, and Wayne counties. It provides grants to local governments and nonprofits for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and infrastructure repairs.

Residents in the approved counties can apply for aid online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-FEMA, or through the FEMA app. Relay service users should provide FEMA with their service number. The disaster number is DR-4930, FEMA said.
