TUPELO, Miss. — Jeremy McGee pleaded guilty Aug. 3 to trafficking fentanyl and was sentenced to 12 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, District Attorney Jason D. Herring said in a press release.
Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims imposed the 12-year term and suspended an additional 28 years on the charge, the release said. Mims also ordered McGee to serve five years of post-release supervision following the term of incarceration, according to the release.
Because McGee was convicted of trafficking, he must serve the 12-year sentence day-for-day without the possibility of parole or early release, the release said.
The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit investigated the case, and Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted it on behalf of the state, the release said. Herring’s office commended NMNU agents for their work removing dangerous narcotics from the streets and protecting citizens of North Mississippi, the release added.
