Northeast Mississippi Community College presents MACCC Hall of Fame award to Robert Henry
Northeast Mississippi Community College said it presented the MACCC Sports Hall of Fame award on campus to former Tiger standout Robert Henry after he was unable to attend the induction ceremony this spring.
The college said Henry played on Coach Bill Ward’s 1972-73 teams, earned Defensive MVP honors as a linebacker and was the only freshman selected to the MACJC All-State Team during his playing career at Northeast.
Northeast said Henry went on to a 35-year coaching career at every level of football, with stops at Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Tennessee, SMU, Baylor, Wyoming, UAB, Henderson State and West Alabama.
The college said Northeast President Ricky Ford and Henry’s longtime friend and former head coach Andy Greening accepted the award on his behalf at the April induction. The college congratulated Henry for the recognition and said he has left a lasting legacy on and off the field.
