Partnerships Expand Workforce Training in Northeast Mississippi

Northeast Mississippi Community College said partnerships with Northrop Grumman Corp. and AccelerateMS are expanding workforce training and opening pathways to higher-paying jobs across the region.

The college said in a news release that more than 220 people have started NEMCC Workforce Training programs to build skills for high-demand careers, including pathways to opportunities with Northrop Grumman that can pay $21 to $25 an hour.

Northrop Grumman has invested $60,000 and more than $375,000 in tools and equipment to help the college build a state-of-the-art training environment, the release said. The college also said a $2.09 million AccelerateMS grant will expand its capabilities with a new Advanced Composites Lab.

The college said the partnerships aim to move people from low-wage work to careers, citing examples such as parents finding better careers, recent graduates discovering paths forward, workers getting second chances and families gaining financial stability. NEMCC said the effort shows how education and industry can work together to change lives across Northeast Mississippi.
