September is Suicide Prevention Month, and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety urged people to remember that mental health struggles can affect anyone, including law enforcement officers and first responders, the agency said.
The department said those who work to protect others face difficult situations every day and need support. “Checking in on a friend, coworker, or fellow officer can make a difference,” the post said.
MDPS advised that asking for help is a sign of strength and encouraged anyone in need to call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, the agency said.
The post closed with a reminder to “take care of those who take care of others,” MDPS said.
