Blue Mountain Christian University in Mississippi is recognizing the contributions of Dr. Jeffrey A. Sweatt, a professor of psychology and coordinator of the university’s psychology degree program. Since joining the faculty in 2005, Sweatt has influenced hundreds of students preparing for careers in psychology, counseling, ministry, and human services.
The university’s psychology program combines rigorous academic study with a Christian perspective. Courses focus on understanding human behavior through both scientific insight and biblical principles, emphasizing dignity, purpose, and compassion. One student noted that he “shows us how to live out psychology with Christ at the center.” Sweatt’s extensive background in psychology, counseling, and ministry, including international work in Zambia, enhances his teaching. His mentorship encourages students to view clients and others as created in God’s image, fostering ethical, empathetic care. Sweatt’s influence is further evident during internships and senior seminars, where he promotes integrating faith into professional practice.
