Blue Mountain Christian University introduces School of Education faculty

Blue Mountain Christian University said it has introduced the faculty of its School of Education and called the team committed to preparing the next generation of teachers. The university said the faculty bring decades of experience in K-12 and higher education and focus on teaching, mentoring and service.

Dr. Ashley Coleman serves as dean of the School of Education, the university said. BMCU said Coleman has worked as a secondary English teacher, curriculum specialist, MTSS director and consultant. The university said she holds a Doctor of Education in teacher leadership from Freed-Hardeman University and is a National Board certified teacher.

Dr. Kyler Mahar serves as an assistant professor of education, BMCU said. The university said Mahar helps teacher candidates connect educational theory to classroom practice and supports their development as reflective educators. The university described Mahar as dedicated to student success and academic excellence.

Mrs. Harley Gonzales is an instructor of education and the School of Education’s social media representative, BMCU said. The university said Gonzales focuses on literacy and teacher preparation and works closely with students on instructional strategies to promote learning and engagement.

Mrs. Libby Young serves as an instructor of education and university supervisor, BMCU said. The university said Young, a former school administrator, supports teacher candidates during field experiences and student teaching placements and provides mentorship through partnerships with K-12 schools. BMCU said the faculty team is committed to preparing servant leaders equipped to teach and lead.
