Emergency Retention Fund seeks donations to keep students enrolled

Organizers of the Emergency Retention Fund said the program is designed to prevent temporary financial setbacks from forcing students to pause or abandon their education.

The fund “exists to make sure a temporary setback doesn’t become a permanent barrier,” the organizers said in a statement.

Organizers urged donors to contribute online. “Be part of the reason a student doesn’t have to choose between their education and their circumstances,” the statement said. Donations can be made at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/bzdnww.

Officials did not provide figures on the number of students assisted or the amount collected. Organizers encouraged the public to give to help students remain enrolled when unexpected expenses arise.
