Haley Hollimon completes high school equivalency after 11-year break, NEMCC says
Haley Hollimon has completed her high school equivalency after putting the goal on hold for 11 years, NEMCC Adult Education said.
The program said Hollimon was 19 when she learned she had not passed a required state test two weeks before graduation. With a 1-year-old child, another baby on the way and mounting responsibilities, she paused her education.
NEMCC Adult Education said Hollimon spent the next decade focused on raising three children, working and caring for family members. During that time she lost her childhood home, watched a son face life-threatening medical challenges, mourned the death of her grandmother and became a caregiver for her mother during a battle with cancer.
The post said Hollimon found renewed purpose in her mother’s final days and returned to finish her education. NEMCC Adult Education said she is now an HSE graduate and is pursuing a career in nursing, and the program congratulated her on the achievement.
