Marginal severe-storm risk for parts of Mississippi, Tennessee, National Weather Service says
The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, said in a 6 a.m. CDT forecast update that a marginal risk — 1 of 5 — for severe thunderstorms is in effect today for portions of northeast Mississippi and west Tennessee along the Tennessee River.
The agency said the main threat is damaging winds, with a low chance of a brief tornado.
An isolated flooding risk is also in place because of heavy rainfall, the NWS said.
