MDOT: Highway 575 washed out, closed both directions in Pike County
The Mississippi Department of Transportation said Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 5 p.m. that Highway 575 in Pike County near Progress was closed in both directions after being washed out that morning.
MDOT said crews have placed barricades to restrict access. The agency warned that heavy rains expected to continue off and on through Sunday morning, May 10, could delay reopening for several days.
MDOT said Highway 583 in Lincoln County is passable in both directions but urged drivers to watch for power crews and MDOT crews clearing debris. The agency said numerous local volunteers are also working in the area and asked motorists to slow down and pay attention.
MDOT said Highway 51 in Lincoln County is passable but advised extreme caution because power companies and volunteers are working along the route.
MDOT said all other routes impacted by the storm are open but asked motorists to remain cautious while driving in affected areas.
