The Mississippi Department of Transportation said it dedicated a stretch of U.S. Highway 49 in Yazoo County as the Col. Donnell Berry Memorial Highway.
The department’s post said Berry served more than 35 years with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, including as chief of the highway patrol and as assistant commissioner.
The post said the dedication recognizes Berry’s leadership, integrity and commitment to public service and credited him with helping shape the future of the agency and inspiring generations of law enforcement officers.
The post thanked state leaders, local officials and the Berry family for participating in the dedication and invited readers to view and share the original post, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
