Northeast Mississippi Community College students complete team survival exercise

Students in an adult education class at Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Corinth campus took part in a team survival exercise to practice decision-making and collaboration, the college said.

The college’s Adult Education program said the activity, led by instructor Deanne Droke, challenged students to work together, make vital decisions as a group and present their results to the class.

The program said the exercise has been part of the Smart Start experience since the class was created years ago. While the activity is not formally in the current curriculum, instructors continue to bring it into the classroom because of its value.

The college said the exercise is intended to reinforce communication, critical thinking, collaboration and decision-making skills, and that staff members enjoy seeing students put those skills into practice.
