An updated severe weather outlook is in effect through 7 a.m., forecasters said.

The warm-sector supercells that forecasters had been monitoring failed to initiate, they said. Instead, storm activity over Missouri remained strong.

Forecasters said the ongoing storms in Missouri are expected to move into the area late this evening and into the early morning hours.
