MARION COUNTY, Miss. — An 89-year-old man was arrested and charged after a woman was fatally shot June 26 on the Highway 35 bypass near Jones Lane, Marion County deputies said.
Deputies said the female victim suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.
The sheriff’s office announced the arrest and charge but did not immediately release the suspect’s name or the specific charges, deputies said.
The investigation remained ongoing, deputies said.
