Bodycam shows moments before June 2026 shooting that killed 1-year-old in Mississippi; AG found use of force justified

Newly released body-worn camera video shows the moments before a Mississippi police officer fired his gun into a car in June 2026, killing a 1-year-old boy who was sitting on his mother’s lap.

CBS News reported on Oct. 22, 2026, that the state’s attorney general concluded the officer who fired the fatal shot was justified in using deadly force.

CBS News also reported the encounter began after the child’s mother was accused of shoplifting a pack of diapers; the mother denies that accusation.
