DRC Industries is establishing operations in Lowndes County, Mississippi, investing $4 million and creating 50 jobs, the Mississippi Development Authority announced Tuesday.
Company co-owner and Director of Sales Daniel R. Abrell said the Columbus facility is strategically positioned to serve expanding markets with its products. The company, headquartered in Kentucky, specializes in manufacturing industrial packaging items such as corner boards, paper tubes, cores, and chipboard sheeting.
Abrell emphasized that Columbus is home to key customers including Steel Dynamics, Aluminum Dynamics, and New Process Steel. He added that the new location will allow DRC Industries to produce and stock many industrial packaging products to serve the southern market.
He also credited local organizations, including the WIN Job Center, Mississippi Department of Employment Security, and East Mississippi Community College, for supporting the company’s hiring efforts. Abrell expressed enthusiasm for partnering with Lowndes County and neighboring communities.
The company’s Mississippi operations will be housed in an existing facility in Columbus, chosen for its access to port, truck, and rail transportation networks. The Mississippi Development Authority noted that the state is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive program. Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bill Cork said the project aligns with the state’s strengths in supply chain and infrastructure, which attracts business investments.
