Lee County auto parts plant to invest $53 million, add 28 jobs

Auto Parts Manufacturing Mississippi said Wednesday it will invest $53 million to expand its operations in Lee County and create 28 jobs, according to a company announcement.

The expansion will increase production capacity at the company’s Guntown facility through the purchase, installation and renovation of production equipment, the release said. Completion of the work and hiring for the associated positions is expected to take five years.

The Mississippi Development Authority and Lee County are supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive program, the release said. Gov. Tate Reeves said the investment “marks another huge win for Lee County and Mississippi’s automotive industry” and that “expansions like this strengthen our position as a top state for automotive manufacturing.”

APMM said it is one of North America’s leading parts suppliers for the Toyota Corolla, a vehicle manufactured in Blue Springs. The company, established by Toyota Auto Body-Japan in 2007, began production in 2011 and specializes in metal stamping, injection molding, plastics and robotic welding, the release said.

APMM Vice President Kim Crumbie thanked the state and Lee County for their support and said the company remains “committed to supporting the local community while helping attract, train and develop a skilled workforce for the future,” the release said. MDA Executive Director Bill Cork said the expansion reflects “the value the company continues to find in Mississippi’s workforce, location and business climate.”
