Drug Possession Arrest Made During Safety Checkpoint in Prentiss County
According to the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department, on July 2, 2024, Deputy Hunter Arnold and Josh Brumley were conducting a routine safety checkpoint with other deputies at the intersection of highway 30 east and highway 365. The operation took an unexpected turn when a vehicle driven by April Nicole Storment approached.
Deputies reportedly detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside Storment’s vehicle, prompting them to conduct a search. During the search, Deputy Hunter Arnold discovered a prescription bottle containing Hydrocodone, a Schedule II controlled substance, which lacked a label.
April Nicole Storment, a 39-year-old woman from Iuka, was subsequently charged with Possession of Hydrocodone. The case will be presented to the next Grand Jury by North MS Narcotics Agent Grady Smith.
In a hearing presided over by Prentiss County Justice Court Judge Craig Bishop, April Storment’s bond was set at $10,000.
