U.S. military strike in Caribbean kills four, SOUTHCOM says
On September 19, 2026, the U.S. military carried out a lethal strike on a go-fast vessel in the Caribbean that killed four alleged “narco-terrorists,” U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said.
“Under the direction of #SOUTHCOM, Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere executed a lethal, kinetic strike on a go-fast vessel operating along established narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean,” SOUTHCOM said, according to Fox News. SOUTHCOM said confirmed intelligence revealed the vessel’s active involvement in narco-trafficking.
Fox News reported that video released by SOUTHCOM shows the vessel moving through the water before erupting into a massive fireball. SOUTHCOM has also released footage in recent weeks of military personnel intercepting and boarding vessels allegedly involved in narco-trafficking, removing crews and sinking the boats.
Fox News said the strike is part of a monthslong campaign launched by the Trump administration aimed at dismantling cartel-linked trafficking networks. The outlet reported that, following the Sept. 19 strike, the campaign has resulted in at least 231 deaths tied to at least 69 reported strikes over roughly one year. Fox News also noted that a Sept. 9 strike previously reported by the military resulted in three deaths.
Many of the operations highlighted by SOUTHCOM have, Fox News reported, targeted vessels allegedly tied to Los Choneros, which the military has described as a violent “narco-terrorist” organization.
