Federal judge blocks Mississippi fetal heartbeat abortion bill
A federal judge has blocked the Mississippi Fetal heartbeat abortion bil.
Judge Carlton Reeves of the US District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi ruled on Friday that the law “threatens immediate harm to women’s rights, especially considering most women do not seek abortions services until after six weeks.”
The preliminary injunction would stop the law from taking affect July 1st.
The law was challenged by the Center for Reproductive Rights representing the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Mississippi’s only abortion clinic.
