U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Eddie Reyes-Ochoa after a wreck and took him to a detention center in Natchez, Mississippi, leaving his pregnant wife alone, the Mississippi Free Press reported.
The report said Reyes-Ochoa, a Kiln resident, was close to receiving his green card before the incident.
His wife, Catherine, is pregnant and the couple were preparing to welcome their first child, the Mississippi Free Press reported.
The couple told the Mississippi Free Press they had followed government instructions. The report said ICE moved Reyes-Ochoa to the Natchez facility after the wreck.
