MEMA urges Mississippians to prepare as Hurricane Isaias nears; coastal impacts expected Friday
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency posted on Facebook Oct. 8, 2026 urging residents to prepare as Hurricane Isaias approaches and warning that coastal impacts are expected beginning Friday.
MEMA said the post included an Oct. 8, 2026 early-morning update from the NOAA National Hurricane Center and noted that gusty winds, heavy rain and flash flooding are possible further inland across Mississippi.
The agency encouraged residents to follow the Mississippi Department of Transportation for the latest road conditions throughout the weekend and pointed to MDOT’s hurricane resources at GoMDOT.com/Hurricanes.
For live road conditions, MEMA advised downloading the MDOT Traffic App (App Store/Google Play) or visiting MDOTtraffic.com and said now is the time to prepare.
