Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is preparing for his final college football season with a focus on growth and maturity. The player, who gained national attention last season with highlight-reel escapes and clutch plays, said he aims to improve his decision-making and leadership under new offensive coordinator John David Baker.
Chambliss, who transferred from Division II Ferris State after leading the Bulldogs to a national championship, stepped into the spotlight after replacing an injured starter at Ole Miss in 2024. His ability to evade pressure and make plays downfield made him a fan favorite, with some fans flying flags of his native Trinidad and Tobago.
Despite the attention, Chambliss views pressure as a privilege. He told The Associated Press that he has prayed for the opportunity and plans to focus on playing smart and clean football this season. The quarterback is also working to increase his football IQ and leadership skills as he prepares for the NFL draft, he said.
Chambliss considered transferring to other programs, including LSU, but chose to stay at Ole Miss because of loyalty and relationships he values deeply. New offensive coordinator Baker, who previously worked under Lane Kiffin, plans to tailor the offense to Chambliss’s strengths, aiming for a supporting cast that can help him succeed.
Reflecting on his journey, Chambliss said he is grateful for the experiences that have shaped him and is committed to leaving a lasting legacy at Ole Miss. His focus remains on developing his game and embracing the challenges ahead, he added.
