Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is set to take a break after completing spring practice, according to the player. The sixth-year senior, who emerged as the Rebels’ starter last season, finished with over 3,900 yards and 30 touchdowns in 2025, leading the team to a College Football Playoff semifinal.
Chambliss, who has garnered attention as a dual-threat quarterback, reflected on his busy offseason. He plans to visit his hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to make personal appearances and speak at local schools. Chambliss frequently emphasizes his roots and his experience at Division II Ferris State, using his platform to motivate young athletes.
Ole Miss coach Pete Golding advised players to take time off after spring drills and exams. Golding, entering his first regular season as head coach, said, “They need a reset.” Chambliss appreciated the chance to rest after a demanding season that included a national title at Division II and an unexpected rise to college football prominence.
Chambliss’s journey was marked by a legal challenge that granted him an extra year of eligibility. The Mississippi Supreme Court denied the NCAA’s final appeal in March, paving the way for him to stay at Ole Miss. Chambliss said the decision was stressful but ultimately positive, noting, “I knew I was going to play football somewhere, either the NFL or here, but not knowing was tough.”
The Rebels plan to launch a Heisman Trophy campaign for Chambliss, who finished eighth in last year’s voting. The school has a history of producing top Heisman contenders, including Archie Manning and Eli Manning, and NFL quarterbacks like Jaxson Dart. Chambliss’s return keeps Ole Miss in the national spotlight as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
