Trinidad Chambliss accounted for three total touchdowns and threw for 363 yards to lead Ole Miss to a 32-24 victory over LSU.
The Associated Press reported Sept. 21, 2026, that Chambliss passed for two touchdowns (21 and 20 yards) and ran for the tiebreaking score in the fourth quarter in the Rebels’ win. He engineered a 75-yard touchdown drive late in the game after top running back Kewan Lacy left in the third quarter with a shoulder injury.
Chambliss completed 33 of 48 passes for 363 yards and tied an Ole Miss program mark by recording his 16th consecutive game with at least one touchdown pass, matching Eli Manning for the third-longest streak in school history. On the decisive run, Chambliss faked a handoff and ran 14 yards, beating LSU safety Ty Benefield to the left pylon; the Rebels added a 2-point conversion.
The AP named Louisville RB Keyjuan Brown the runner-up for national player of the week after Brown rushed 10 times for a career-high 163 yards and two long touchdowns in Louisville’s 41-31 win over SMU. Brown scored on runs of 58 and 53 yards and became the third player in Louisville history to rush for at least 160 yards on 10 or fewer carries.
Honorable mentions and other Week 3 highlights cited by the AP included Vanderbilt edge Miles Capers forcing CJ Bailey’s fumble in the end zone in Vanderbilt’s 35-31 win over N.C. State; Iowa State RB Aiden Flora rushing for a career-high 194 yards, including 179 in the first half, and returning a punt 66 yards for a touchdown in a 55-7 win over Bowling Green; Alabama QB Keelon Russell throwing for 320 yards and three TDs and rushing for another as Alabama rallied to beat Florida State 50-36; Toledo QB John Alan Richter throwing for 429 yards and four TDs in a 49-48 overtime win at Temple; West Virginia QB Michael Hawkins Jr. accounting for 313 yards and five TDs in a 38-27 win over Virginia; and BYU RB LJ Martin rushing for 176 yards and three TDs, including a 56-yard run, in a 41-23 win over Colorado State.
The AP also highlighted six statistical notes: Miami’s Darian Mensah completed 71 of 79 pass attempts (89.9%) through three games and is on pace to challenge the FBS season accuracy record; Duke’s Nate Sheppard led the nation with 176 rushing yards per game and averaged 27.3 carries per game (tied nationally); Iowa was averaging 8.46 yards per carry on first down, up from 4.77 in 2025; New Mexico led the nation with 11 takeaways and was among six teams with no turnovers; Kansas State remained the only team yet to allow a sack; and Syracuse was averaging 12 penalties per game, up from 6.2 per game in 2025.
