Strong storms possible Wednesday in Columbus area, WCBI says

WCBI meteorologists said a slow-moving front could bring widespread thunderstorms to the Columbus, Mississippi, area Wednesday, with the greatest threat occurring in the afternoon and overnight hours.

WCBI said the storms could be strong because of abundant moisture, warm temperatures and strong upper-level support, though officials added it is too early to specify exact impacts.

High pressure will maintain clear and cool conditions overnight, WCBI said, with lows falling into the upper 40s.

WCBI said Monday and Tuesday will be pleasant, with temperatures reaching the low 80s. Monday should be sunnier, while Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the far northern portions of the viewing area.

WCBI said it will continue to update forecasts and timing for the storms as Wednesday approaches.
