Two Memphis Women Arrested for Human Trafficking in Tupelo
Tupelo, MS – July 10, 2024
According to the Tupelo Police Department, two women from Memphis have been arrested and charged with Human Trafficking following an investigation into a report of prostitution.
Tupelo Chief of Police John Quaka stated, “On July 8th, 2024, officers received information of possible prostitution at a local motel within Tupelo city limits. Officers responded to the hotel and encountered three individuals in a room. An investigation was promptly initiated and led to the arrest of two females.”
The suspects were identified as Terraneika Poplar, aged 19, and Destiney Plummer, aged 20, both residents of Memphis. They have been charged with Human Trafficking.
“Tupelo Police, supported by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services, and the Center for Violence Prevention, successfully executed the arrests and rescued a female juvenile at the scene,” Chief Quaka added. “This crime is deplorable, and TPD is committed to deploying all available resources to ensure these offenders, and any others in the future, face justice. It is disheartening that such crimes occur.”
Poplar and Plummer were presented before Tupelo Municipal Court on July 9th, 2024. Judge Willie Allen denied bond for both individuals.
The investigation and subsequent arrests were initiated based on a report of suspected prostitution.
