UMMC breaks ground on Cancer Center and Research Institute in Jackson

On Oct. 22, 2026, the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Cancer Center and Research Institute (CCRI), a project intended to bring patient care, clinical trials, research laboratories, supportive services and specialized training together under one roof.

WJTV reported the ceremony and identified the project by name as the CCRI.

UMMC described the CCRI as a facility that will consolidate those services on its campus in Jackson, according to WJTV.
