Siemens Energy breaks ground on $300 million facility in Rankin County
Siemens Energy said it has broken ground on a $300 million manufacturing facility at the West Rankin Industrial Park in Pearl that the company expects will create 300 advanced manufacturing jobs.
The company called the project “The Horizon” and said the campus will produce electrical grid components, including what company officials described as state-of-the-art high-voltage switchgear used to protect the power grid and support growing electricity demand.
Siemens Energy said the site will include a training center and a warehouse and will be laid out to allow room for future expansion.
The company said it currently employs 700 people at its Richland location and plans to partner with Pearl public schools and Hinds Community College to provide hands-on manufacturing experience for young people at the training center.
Siemens Energy said its U.S. history dates to the 1880s, when it opened its first American manufacturing site in Pittsburgh in 1887. The company said it was spun off from Siemens AG in 2020 and became a separately listed energy technology company, and that it established its Mississippi footprint in 1973.
