Czech president pushes back on Trump, says ‘we are not part of it’

Czech President Petr Pavel pushed back this week against President Donald Trump’s accusations that Europe has failed to support U.S. military operations against Iran, telling CNN’s Christine Amanpour, “I believe that Europe could do much more, but we are not part of it.”

Pavel’s remarks came during an interview with Amanpour, in which he addressed Trump’s criticism that European nations have not done their part to back the United States in its operations related to Iran.

“I believe that Europe could do much more,” Pavel said, according to CNN. “But we are not part of it,” he added, asserting a separation between his country and the broader European response.

Pavel’s comments were a direct response to the tone of Trump’s accusations, which have questioned the level of European support for the United States in the ongoing situation with Iran, according to the interview.
