Democratic senators ask FCC to halt Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger over national security concerns
Three Democratic senators urged the Federal Communications Commission to halt a proposed merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, saying in a joint letter to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr that the deal could pose a national security risk because of foreign investors’ involvement.
Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J.; Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.; and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., signed the letter, according to the senators.
The senators warned the transaction could present national security concerns tied to participation by foreign investors, language they set out in the joint letter.
They addressed their concerns directly to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr and asked the commission to halt the merger process while those concerns are evaluated, the senators said.
