DeSantis says Florida will provide asylum to holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy case

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said Friday that Florida will provide asylum to the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial and accused the media of launching a smear campaign, DeSantis said.

His comments came after a report revealed the juror had a history of alleged domestic violence and an active restraining order, the report said.

DeSantis characterized the media coverage as a smear campaign, saying the juror was being unfairly targeted, according to his remarks Friday.

The governor’s statement and the report have heightened attention on the jury deliberations in the Clancy case.
