DeSantis to sign Florida map that backers say favors Republicans
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will soon sign redrawn congressional district lines that backers say are aimed at helping Republicans pick up as many as four U.S. House seats in the November elections.
Supporters of the plan say the new boundaries would improve Republican chances across multiple districts. Democrats contend the changes would cost some of their members their seats.
The map is set to become law once DeSantis signs it, moving the process from the state Capitol to the campaign trail ahead of the general election.
Both sides have framed the map in starkly different ways, with backers calling it a correction of district lines and opponents describing it as a partisan effort to reshape Florida’s congressional delegation.
