Duke safety returns missed field goal 109 yards in Raleigh; Blue Devils beat NC State 41-3

Andrew Pellicciotta returned a missed field goal 109 yards for a touchdown at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, and Duke beat NC State 41-3, Fox News reported.

Fox News said NC State entered the game 4-4 amid a recent coaching change. With two seconds remaining in the first half, interim coach Todd Goebbel sent out the kicking unit and kicker Kanoah Vinesett attempted about a 50-yard field goal that fell short; Pellicciotta caught the kick in the end zone and returned it 109 yards for a touchdown.

The article noted the play flipped what it described as a would-be 24-6 halftime score into a 31-3 lead after the return, and that a televised scorebug briefly showed three points before the touchdown was recorded. Fox News reported Duke added 10 more points in the second half to finish the game 41-3.
