Georgia moved to No. 1 in AP Poll after 42-7 win at Ole Miss

AP voters elevated Georgia to the No. 1 spot after the Bulldogs’ 42-7 road win over Ole Miss, Fox News reported on Nov. 8, 2026.

According to Fox News, Georgia and Ole Miss each passed for 186 yards in the game, but the Bulldogs dominated on the ground with 295 rushing yards compared with Ole Miss’ 66. The outlet said voters rewarded Georgia’s performance by adding the No. 1 next to the Bulldogs’ name.

Fox News noted Georgia carries one loss, unlike unbeaten Utah and UCLA, but wrote that Saturday’s result made a strong case for ranking the Bulldogs first. The report also said Notre Dame moved up after beating Miami, and pointed out Miami’s best player, Malachi Toney, did not play in that game.

The outlet wrote that Alabama was ranked No. 7 while Tennessee was No. 9 despite both teams being 7-2; Fox News pointed to Tennessee’s earlier 16-point win over Alabama and Tennessee’s 34-6 victory over then-No. 8 Kentucky when discussing the discrepancy. Fox News also referenced Texas’ earlier win over Tennessee as a factor in the voters’ ordering.

Fox News criticized voters for moving USC up three spots to No. 15 during a Week 10 bye, saying the Trojans’ resume included one notable win against a now three-loss Ohio State and losses to Oregon and Wisconsin. The report previewed a Week 11 matchup in which USC travels to Bloomington to face No. 6 Indiana.

Fox News framed the Week 10 poll movement as largely influenced by a string of favored teams winning and said Week 11 results will further clarify the rankings.
