Guardians beat White Sox 9-5 in Game 4, force decisive ALDS Game 5 in Cleveland
The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 in Game 4 of the American League Division Series on Oct. 8, forcing a decisive Game 5 in Cleveland and denying Chicago a trip to its first ALCS since 2005.
Fox News reported that Cleveland’s two fifth-inning home runs, by Patrick Bailey and José Ramírez, powered the Guardians to their second straight win in the series.
The White Sox opened the scoring when Sam Antonacci hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning to make it 2-0. Chicago answered in the bottom of the fifth after Antonacci was hit by a pitch, and a sacrifice fly by Brenton Doyle gave the White Sox a 4-3 lead — their last lead of the night, according to Fox News.
Fox News also reported that Miguel Vargas hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth that gave Chicago a late chance; the White Sox put two runners on base later in the inning but could not complete a comeback.
Game 5 of the ALDS returns to Cleveland on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, with the first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, Fox News said.
