The club finally reached Citi Field at 5:05 p.m. ET for a game originally scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m. ET. The start was pushed back to 7:50 p.m., MLB.com reported.
Boston scored two runs in the first inning and held on for the 6-2 victory, MLB.com reported. The game was the first of a three-game series in New York before the All-Star break, MLB.com said.
The sweep of Chicago came Thursday, MLB.com reported. The Mets sit last in the National League East, according to MLB standings compiled by Major League Baseball.
