Senator Andy Kim pepper-sprayed during protest outside Newark ICE facility

Sen. Andy Kim, a Democrat from New Jersey, was pepper-sprayed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers Monday during a protest outside an immigration detention facility in Newark.

Videos circulated online show Kim holding an ice pack as mutual aid volunteers pour water into his eyes to help him. One video captures Kim speaking directly to ICE officers at the scene.

The protest was part of ongoing demonstrations against immigration detention policies. Kim has not publicly commented on the incident.
