Jordan Walker hits six straight to win Home Run Derby, first Cardinal champ
Jordan Walker of the St. Louis Cardinals won the Home Run Derby in Philadelphia, homering on his last six swings to overtake the Philadelphia Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber, according to MLB.
Walker’s late surge closed out the final round and pushed him past Schwarber, the Phillies slugger who had led earlier in the contest, MLB reported.
Walker became the first St. Louis Cardinal to win the Home Run Derby, according to MLB. His finishing burst also quieted boos from the home crowd.
Event organizers and MLB officials listed Walker as the winner on the Derby scoreboard, and the victory marked a milestone for the Cardinals franchise in the annual All-Star Week showcase.
