Rep. Stephen Lynch, a Democrat representing Massachusetts’s 8th Congressional District, has won his primary race against challenger Patrick Roath, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Lynch, 71, successfully defended his seat against Roath, 39, in a contest that highlighted a battle over generational change within the party.
Roath, an attorney who previously served as an aide to former Gov. Deval Patrick, mounted a challenge from the left, but Lynch secured the nomination for the upcoming general election.
The race focused on differences in experience and vision for the district’s future, with Lynch emphasizing his long-standing service in Congress.
