Matthew Stafford, Josh Allen Lead ‘Madden NFL 27’ Ratings with 99 Club Memberships

EA Sports unveiled the player ratings for the upcoming release of ‘Madden NFL 27’ on Wednesday, with the ratings debate expected to heat up as the game approaches its Aug. 13 launch date. Despite being over two weeks away from release, fans and analysts are already discussing top players.

The ratings revealed a top 10 list for quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. Both Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen tied for the highest rating with a 99, making them members of the coveted 99 Club. In the quarterback rankings, Stafford was listed ahead of Allen, despite their tie.

Joe Burrow ranked third with a 97, followed by Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes, who received a 93. Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions rounded out the top 10 with an 88. Other players in the 99 Club included wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, defensive end Myles Garrett, and tight end Trey McBride.

Among the wide receivers, Chase has surpassed 1,000 yards in every season since entering the league in 2021. Smith-Njigba, who recently signed a record-setting contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks, is also a top-rated player. Other notable wideouts include Puka Nacua, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Justin Jefferson. Mike Evans, now with the San Francisco 49ers, is ranked No. 10 among wide receivers.

Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears quarterback and cover star for the game, aims to reach a 99 rating by year’s end. He told ESPN’s ‘Up & Adams’ that improving his completion percentage and reducing interceptions are his goals. The Rams received the highest team rating with a 93 overall, reflecting their strong roster heading into the season.
