Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman, a Democrat, will face Mayor Karen Bass, also a Democrat, in the city’s mayoral race later this year, Decision Desk HQ projected.
Decision Desk HQ reported that Bass was sitting at 34.32% of the vote as results were being tallied.
Raman advanced after eliminating reality television personality Spencer Pratt, Decision Desk HQ reported.
The matchup sets up a contest that political analysts say could highlight intraparty tension and broader debates about the future direction of the Democratic Party.
