Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, called the removal of President Donald Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center on Saturday a symbolic win for “democracy and the rule of law,” Garcia said.
Garcia said the Kennedy Center “is a tribute to one of our greatest presidents,” and he praised the decision to remove Trump’s name, according to his comments.
He described the action as a “Really important moment for this country,” Garcia said.
Garcia’s remarks were part of his public response to the decision, which he framed as affirming democratic principles and the rule of law, he said.
