Singer D4vd arrested in connection with teen’s death in Los Angeles
Los Angeles police arrested singer D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, on Thursday in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Burke, 21, is being held without bail, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The LAPD said the case will be presented to the district attorney’s office on Monday for filing consideration. Until Thursday, Burke had not been publicly identified as a suspect, though authorities had previously investigated him in connection with Hernandez’s death, including grand jury subpoenas issued in January.
Hernandez’s body was found in September 2025 inside the trunk of an abandoned Tesla in Los Angeles. Court documents indicate the vehicle was registered to Burke. The body was decomposed, with investigators discovering dismembered body parts in the car’s front storage compartment, as described in subpoenas obtained by the Associated Press.
The teenager, who was reported missing in 2024, was from Lake Elsinore, about 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles. She was 14 years old when she was killed, authorities said. Her body was found a day after her 15th birthday, court records show.
Burke gained fame among Generation Z fans with his music, including the hit “Romantic Homicide.” He was performing on a U.S. tour at the time of his arrest but canceled remaining shows and a planned European tour following reports linking him to the case.
