Sophie Cunningham waves checkered flag at United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas

Sophie Cunningham waved the checkered flag to end the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, the Fox News outlet OutKick reported.

OutKick wrote that Cunningham was a guest of the Cadillac F1 team at their home race and that celebrity guests are common in the paddock. The outlet also reported that some critics objected to the decision to have Cunningham wave the flag, citing her past statements that she believes women’s sports should be reserved for biological women.

OutKick described the race as one in which Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli led for much of the event. The outlet added that F1’s schedule will move next to Mexico City, then Brazil, with the series returning to the United States for the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Nov. 21, followed by stops in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, according to the report.
