Trump asks court to block BBC subpoenas for his family in $10 million defamation case

President Donald Trump asked a court to block the BBC’s efforts to subpoena his family members in his $10 million defamation lawsuit, his lawyers said in court filings Saturday.

The filings said the British broadcaster sought subpoenas for his children, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as part of the channel’s defense.

Trump’s lawyers described the attempts to subpoena his family members as “cynical,” the filings said.

The filings were submitted Saturday and are part of ongoing pretrial litigation, the documents show.
