Hamilton was removed from his position by the Trump administration after he testified before Congress that the agency should continue to exist. His nomination marks a potential return to a leadership role at FEMA.
The official announcement is expected in the coming days. It remains unclear whether the Senate will confirm Hamilton’s appointment.
